The Unopened Gift

As I was reading a book the other day the author mentioned that there are many gifts that we as Gods children never open.  It then started my mind to racing and to realize that the greatest gifts are free and always readily available, however we just don't take the time to open the greatest of  treasures.

Christmas time at our home is a time of family, friends, and traditions. There are things that we do as a family each year that make it Christmas to the Sneeds. As Christmastime quickly approaches I love the excitement as it builds, the anticipation of seeing the look on the faces of children, the aroma that comes from the kitchen, its  such a special time with family and friends. I love everything about the Christmas season and everything that is associated with it.  A preacher friend of mine once said that "God made a big deal out of Christmas and so can I."  He sent a whole multitude of heavenly host to announce the great arrival.  He sent wise men from the East and placed a beautiful star to guide them.  It's my favorite time of the year.  It's seems to be a time that offers great hope to everyone. Its hard for me to comprehend why this season offends some people.  So, I plan to ignore all the Schooges this year---the heathen Scrooges, the atheist Scrooges and even the Christian Scrooges,  I plan to wish them all a Merry Christmas and to encourage them to open the gifts that are readily available, just waiting for someone to open them.

How sad it would be to us if we search and search for that special gift, finally find it and wrap it and give it  with all the love in our heart and our loved one just walk by, ignore it and never open it.How  sad that it must make God  feel  that He, before the foundation of the world was preparing us a special gift like none other would ever be, a gift that would last into eternity.  So many people people ignore the great gift , JESUS.

We as Christians often don't stop to open the countless gifts available to us.  There are gifts of joy, grace, mercy, healing, knowledge, wisdom and many more.  All HE requires us to do is just ask.  "Ye have not, because ye ask Not".   So my desire is that we be as anxious children running to open the gifts under the tree. So much more that we can even think or ask does God have is store for his children.  He loves us even more than we can love our own children and just as we want the best for our children so does God want the best for us.  So this Christmas ,  run without hestitation and unwrapp these special gift from under the tree that HE gave His life on. Just simlpy ASK....Pray without ceasing.

God Bless,

Jeff
